This is the first video I have found that is trying to increase awareness and I really like that it covers the symptoms of Type 1 as they are often overlooked. Although I am glad that there is this kind of information available, I’m disappointed I have only found this now. As it was created by the diabetic community it is mostly circulated around the the diabetic community, instead of around the larger community of people who know nothing or if they are at risk.

Research Methodology

Research starting point:

How to increase the awareness of Type 1 Diabetes in Young Adults.

· Possible methods for research:

Meeting with doctors and nurses who specialise in dealing with this area.

Looking at what information is already out there (In books and the internet)

Researching statistics related to Type 1 Diabetes and Young Adults.

· Collaborative methods:

I could try and collaberate with support websites that focus on helping Young Adults, however I haven’t found any that focus on that. I could see if I could collaberate with other Young Adult support sites or a larger site aimed at all people with Diabetes.

· Using digital tools:

I could use Twitter to connect with other people in a similar situation as myself, or groups/websites that focus on people in my situation. I could use pinterest to show visually what websites and support is out there already.

· Gathering Primary evidence:

I think the internet would be the best way to gather my research as the diabetic community in my local area isn’t as large as the one I can access over the interent. I also want to look and see what support books are available for Young Adults and what support groups there are for other Young Adults with different diseases. I would also like to use polls and questionnaires on internet forums to widen my research pool.

· Which methods would be best:

I think looking at what psychical support (books, support groups) will not be as helpful as looking at information on the internet, as most Young Adults would turn to internet support before going to their doctor or the library (in most cases)

· Issues or difficulties with this method:

The problem with using mostly research from the internet, it can be difficult to be certain of the information’s reliability. Because the internet is an anonymous place, the information I collect cannot always be verified for it’s credibility. This could be said for other types of research, but is more rife in information collected from the internet.

·

Some Art Nouveu inspired silliness. :)

Some Art Nouveu inspired silliness. :)

Currently one of my favourite photographs, the mist in the...

Currently one of my favourite photographs, the mist in the owl’s eyes is spine-chillingly beautiful.

Love architecture like this, really adds character to a place.

Love architecture like this, really adds character to a place.

exquisitebeast:

The Twenty-eigth Beast.

Woa, the beast has turned into a dinosaur! Its mouth has become more specialized for an herbivorous lifestyle, and its exoskeleton has been covered by a thick dermis. Its carapace has receded somewhat and is now edged with a fine fur to prevent chafing, somewhat similar to the shell of an armadillo.

Really interesting and unique project. The two artists started off with a simple organism, and have taken it in turns to ‘evolve’ it with each drawing! Would love to try something like this.

The pros and cons of Type 1 Diabetes

Cons

Hyper-reality, the fiction has become real

Pre-Enlightenment: the miraculous power of objects

Industrial revoloution

French revoloution - destroyed aristocracy, monarchy and church

People stopped believing in the bible.

All religion linked together (Mithras)

The teapot orbiting the sun- God is a teapot

Divine watchmaker - God designed our eyes

Scott Fitzgerald- ‘An artist is someone who can hold two opposing viewpoints and still remain fully functional’

Time is elastic

And to end, DANIEL DAY LEWIS!

Photographs more instanteneous than other mediums

FSA

Wanted to create a new photographic asthetic

Rodchenko- concious about creating very photographic images, photographs are constructed images, very believable and lifelike, Rodchenko wanted to make sure people knew his images were constructed, often looking up or down

Stairs

Russian photography a response to communism, embracing modernity

French

Royograms/Photograms - making images by putting objects on photographic paper

Man Ray, famous for solorisation, puts a halo around things, playing around with photographic process

French phtography (inventors of it) as an art form (Russians and Americans saw it politically, modernity, new way of seeing things) more artistic

Atget - took snapshots of Paris, used antiqued equipment, quirky view on the world

Henri Cartier Bresson known informally as the greatest photographer of all time, the decisive moment, pioneered 35 mm SLR camera, genuinely fruity (not my words) his photos would have been terrible if they were taken a split second earlier/later

Robert Cappa - threw himself into war, was the only photographer to land with the first wave at Normandy (D Day) Photos were ruined, only recently been remastered, established Magnum photography with Henri. Walked into a minefield on an Indo-China road, taking a pictures of troops marching on.

British

Strongest connection between photography and cinema

Social Realist (Painting people in social situations) strong socialist history, strong sense of social responsibility, social realism in British photography/cinema

Tony Ray Jones - records life without political agenda, class differences fuelled social realism

Martin Parr - went out and photograped the working class, criticised for looking down on them

Nick Waplington, Living Room- moved into eastate to get closer to the people he photographed, strikes a chord

Audrey Kawasaki’s work always gives me shivers. The girls’ faraway gaze, combined with the soft tones and unusual media make her work seem unearthly and eerie.

theartofanimation:
